Just to show that I do occasionally stray from the P3D platform ...

I know one NZFF member who'd enjoy seeing the Red Star on a Spitfire!

Haven't quite worked out how to properly fly this thing yet (let alone "do stuff") ... but it looks nice!

I bought the F/A 18 in DCS. Apart from when you switch to the external view and get that sweet, sweet fly by roar.... the whole thing's quite undramatic.
I was showing my dad how to fire a missile and drop bombs but I had to watch a 15 minute ground school video on how to do it first.
When I finally hit the truck he walked off with a 'huh.'

I agree with you NZ ....DCS is great, but for someone like me, its over complicated.
Good for screenshots :)

Ummm ... sadly familiar.

I bought the MiG-21 (and the L-39 Albatros) but after a few weeks away from the sim, I can't start either. I keep bashing the CTRL-E keys

Good to try other stuff Adamski ...P3D isn't the centre of the sim world.
I try to give them all time .

But for a quick hoon it's a bit of fun. Landing on the carrier is pretty good.

Just blast some Kenny Loggins and you're away

Hehe ... nice link!

Top Gun was 99% junk, but the opening/titles sequences has to be one of the best cinematic intros ever made, IMHO.

I think that Top Gun was a product of the times. It was a brilliant recruiting tool for the US Navy and turned a lot of people on to aviation. I was very young at the time but it remains one of the most important films in my life. Some of it is a little hokey and camp... but the flying is pretty spectacular... even by todays standards. You’re right that the opening sequence is one of the best ever created.
