haha! What's actually real cool about that pic is that almost all my DCS Flying is MP online player vs Player exclusive. So that was one of my long time squadron mates. We were actually talking to each after the flight and you can't help but look over at the person you're conversing with. In DCS the pilots heads move in relation to your head movement. So that was actual position at the time. I think I said "Say cheese!". LOL

Wow! I really need to get back into DCS. I got to the point where I could do a full cold start on the MiG-21 from memory. Sadly all gone now (the grey cells, that is!! ).

I got the DCS Spitfire but was totally put of by how hard the thing was to take off or land. I just can't believe the Real Thing was quite *that* difficult. I got so cheesed off with it I haven't been back in DCS since.

Can't fault DCS skin modelling though - always superb - and your pics show them off well!

Adam.

Adamski,

The problem you experienced with the control of the Spitfire, is due to the advanced flight model in all DCS aircraft. Especially the ones with a "professional" Flight model. In order to scale it down for a desktop joytick throw, you need to adjust your joystick and rudder curves/deadzones to tune back the squirreliness of the reaction. Especially in Pitch and Yaw. Once you do this, You'll have an experience that I haven't had in any other flight sim. I find DCS to be the best rendition of "Flight" in any sim I've tried compared to the real thing. I had the same issue with the F-5E. I thoguht, this is terrible! How can anyone like this simulator! But I once I ajusted my curves It was a completely different experience. Keep in mind, this must be done for EVERY INDIVIDUAL aircraft. DCS doesn't have generic controls for the entire sim. It has aircraft specific controls per aircraft. So you can fine tune every aircraft in your hangar differently to support your needs.

Thanks, Rick - that does sound very encouraging I must say!!!! I'll definitely give your advice a whirl.

I remember a similar situation with Falcon4. At first, general flying was fine - but landing it was a nightmare. 9/10 of them I was absolutely NOT walking away from  . Then, after a while, something just "clicked" and it was almost impossible to prang it.

Watch this space!!!
