You like Active Sky better than Rex?

How do Active Sky's clouds look?

Is Active Sky easy to install?

Can people buy ACTIVE SKY CLOUD ART FSX P3D without buying main Active Sky software?

I always want very realistic looking clouds for my FSX.

I have preferred AS with CloudArt over REX, but I have also seen some stunning screens from others with REX Skyforce.
AS is dead easy to use; *almost* fit and forget; at least, I never touch it; I just load it before I start and it runs in the background collecting METAR and injecting it seamlessly into the flight.

I do think that REX and AS are comparable, quality-wise, although they both have their strengths. Like a lot of people, I moved from Rex to AS a while ago, but now Rex has kind of caught up with the technology. However I don't think the difference is enough to switch, all I'd recommend is that if you don't have either, get one or the other.
Naki's screenshots do speak for themselves, that's one fine looking weather/cloud depiction!
Personally I think we were spoilt by FSW's Truesky, as far as 'real' weather is concerned. Whoever gets a truesky implimentation in Prepar3d (or X-plane, or Aerofly FS2) will get my money.

Thanks all for interesting explanations Is it possible to use Active Sky WITHOUT live weather feed but relaying on FSX default weather?

I have Active Sky also in use and the results may hefty. Flying in the typical storms in Europe at the moment is not without risk, and this program can create Hurricanes, Tornados, extreme fog,... in a way not found with other "weather-engines"...

Not sure on that, but I think so; you don't have to choose live weather so I suppose it will go to default. Or you can use custom weather theme, or choose some 'historical' weather. I've always left it as live though; or at least, as live as it gets with the NZ METAR.

This from the ASCA manual:

While ASCA and AS16/ASP4 work great together, they are also fully compatible (either alone or together) with any other graphics add-on and weather add-on. You have full flexibility to mix and match any aspect and selectable feature set within these add-ons.

However the dynamic texture insertion only works with AS, not that I use that anyway. Since there's no default real weather now, you'd need to devise your own weather to get the best out of ASCA.

I have in the most the Real Weather Option in use. ... It give the flight a more intense feeling as a standard theme...
