Sort of 'should have been shot at birth' ugly.

What? Ugly? My favorite aircraft! It's even named after my daughter! You be careful now...

Great picture Jankees ,, you lucky so and so !!
Hehehe talk about me throwing in a bit of humour and then getting shot in the foot !!!!
Yes the Catalina was a practical dream come true during and after WWII BUT it wasn't built for looks so hence my comment ,, which is actually a compliment.
A couple of years ago I completed a 'round the world' in a Grumman OV1D Mohawk ,, all at lower level and mostly via IFR ,, mostly 'online'
The comments thrown at me generally included ,, ugly ,, weird ,, why 'That Thing' etc etc but I loved the wee weird looking thing ,, basically to me it was the 'sports car of flying'.
So ,, post more pix ,, heaps of them would be great as I relate to what they are ,, I might even post pix of the Antonov AN32 that I fly online at the moment. (temporary grounded having a panel rebuild)
Cheers Jankees ,,, Jim

Very nice screens Jankees.
sjimc2000 that Grumman OV1D Mohawk looks like it was put together using various left over collection of parts from various other aircraft. A sort of Duckbill Platypus of the aviation world.

Talking about stylistically challenged aircraft that still found their way into my heart, how about this one?

WOW now thats different !!! Jan ,, what can one say ,, hehehe
Interesting that it has Australian rego ,, I didn't think the Aussies would allow something like that down here ,, surely ,, not so near NZ ,, there were Catalinas down here though.
Every one to their own I suppose but I find these sort of things 'refreshing' after the 'same old,, same old' modern day passenger jets that everyone seems to fly online these day ,, and Cowpatz ,,, yes the Mohawk does have a 'bundle of parts' sort of look but still fun to fly ,, give it a go some day ,, youll probably love it ??
One day I'll figure out how to upload pictures on here and really stir things up ,, Hehehee
Cheers Guys ,,, Jim

Nice repaint there Jan ,,,
No the ZK rego wouldn't be right as if any of them had flown down here in real life, the thing would have been shot out the sky in no time at all

(just kidding)
I can see I'll have to broaden my fleet when I get back to flying !!

There’s a Grumman Duck under restoration in NZ for US collector (Kermit Weeks I think)
