Stigler ...contains historic symbols that may offend.

I suggest you read the book "A higher call" by Adam Makos.
Anyway, a great paint from "StrafeMike" over at war thunder of the aircraft flown by Franz Stigler.

From Mike "No words for this man and his historic deed. I wholeheartedly suggest you read "A Higher Call" to feel the weight of the situations that people come to face...and rise above at times! No matter under what colors or symbols they fight, there are people who will always have humane behaviour, as well as the exact opposite.Leutnant Stigler was of the first example, God rest his soul!"

Top shot, Marty
There is so much nonsense happening these days. A craft brewer who has been using the label 'Colonial Ale' for years has been pressured into changing the name. The world has gone mad.
No point in trying to conceal the bad stuff in one's nation's history - point to it, tell what was done to stop the bad stuff, make sure everyone knows it was wrong. That's how to ensure it won't happen again.
End of major grump.

Don't normally reply to my own posts, but , one other thing Mike mentioned ... "as a question, remember the "Rape of Nanking" and Hinomaru...? Noone banned the japanese sign because of their attrocities throughout the pacific at those days.Yet, they did what they did under that flag."

Thanks, Mike (Emfrat) feels really odd that I'm defending a single shot .....as the dear old wing commander, Ian would say (and get banned) "its history"

Might not be your best ever Marty, but this doesn't detract from a very crisp and stark picture.
Those textures are fantastic, and yes, those aircraft wore swastikas.
In certain contexts one can understand banning the signage, but one hopes the world can get over it.

Before being hijacked by Adolf, it was after all a benign good luck symbol.

In Germany there are strict legal regulations, something that is foreign to Japan, which feels like an victim through Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

These are the rules I have to follow as a citizen of the Federal Republic of Germany, even if my place of residence is not in Germany or if I post in foreign forums...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strafgese ... ection_86a

Violations are punishable by imprisonment for up to 3 years or a fine.

Ironically, this is not prosecuted in Latvia. Here, for example, the former soldiers of the Latvian units of the Waffen-SS are "heroes" in Latvia, because they fought against "Russian Bolshevism" .On 16th April each year in Latvia is celebrated the day of the legionnaires." It would go too far to try to explain the different viewpoint between Russia and the "European Union" and the historical connections, but one can say that even if the contemporary witnesses are almost all dead, the march of the Latvian Nazis in Riga to "remember" these people and the laying down of flowers at the Latvian National Monument is the biggest event of this kind in the "European Union". Now one could say for example: the construction of models of airplanes of the German Air Force and the complete painting with the swastika is necessary to preserve the historical authenticity. But model building is a in Germany only hobby and not a scientific occupation. . . I see it so... that every pilot of the German Luftwaffe knew for which regime he flew. He could see it on the tail unit of his plane. So dyed-in-the-wool Nazis like Hanna Reitsch can still affirm how unsuspecting they were....

I build my models on a scale of 1:72 with full painting. That's allowed. But it is not allowed to put photos of it so in the internet, because that would be "spreading of national socialist ideology" and there we are again at § 86 paragraph. 1 No. 2 Criminal Code in Germany.

By the way, it is not possible to show correctly painted models of the Finnish Air Force or the Latvian Air Force in Germany. Why? Both had swastikas as National Emblems. Finland a blue swastika in a white circle 1919-1944 and Latvian Air Force 1919-1940 a red swastika in a white circle... With the country setting "Germany", Google does not show you original pictures of, for example, original pictures of Latvian Air Force Gloster Gladiator from 1938. . .
This goes so far that the book "Latvian Air Force, 1918-40" (Insignia Air Force Special) is not delivered to Germany by Amazon. . .
https://www.amazon.com/Latvian-Force-19 ... 1902851048

Here's the situation. I won't comment further.
