I think the old triangle suits the roo on it ...but somehow I can't see The RAAF really loving this, they are more F-4 types.

Great pic Marty - I love the wear and tear on the camo. The Javelin was a big robust aircraft designated FAW (= Fighter All Weather) and it did the job, hence the scratched paint. But neither Oz nor NZ really needed the capability to carry out an intercept at night, in an Atlantic S-W Gale.

It was a bloody dangerous aeroplane that should never have entered service in the state it was in. They were lucky not to loose the prototype and an experienced test pilot... actually, the Meteor was in the same boat. Something was rotten at Gloster back then.

Your right Nick, I'm reading(among other things) a book by Peter Caygill "Javelin from the cockpit" to be followed by "Meteor from the cockpit".
I'm only into the first chapter, but having skimmed ahead a little, there are some interesting comments on handling etc.
