Mahia Peninsula

I've been looking at a few points of interest around NZ for MSFS, although since I'm 100% flat-out on finishing NZTI at the moment, this is just an idea, and there's no reason why someone else couldn't run with it....

The default MSFS imagery for this area doesn't show the Rocket Lab launch complex, so I've just dropped a more recent aerial there. It's funny that the autogen has interpreted the launch pad as a skinny multi-storey building:) I'd love to see an accurate model of the facility, it should definitely be included in any World update which may cover NZ....

The aerial isn't optimal res, at only half the required 15cm, but it would work well with some 3D models plonked on top. And of course a mesh update would be ideal here.

Rocket Lab's main business at the moment is to put satellites into orbit. (No missiles... I'm pretty sure.)

They are working on a larger rocket, but that won't be launched from NZ.

I don't think there's any current photoscenery for FSX or Prepar3d which shows the facility, but there's no reason why there couldn't be. I would hope that any MSFS model of the site would be released for the other sims at some point.

Toprob,

Thanks for extremely interesting geographical info

Never knew there is rocket launching pad in Mahia, New Zealand

I might check it out on FSX to see what it looks like before they built the rocket pad

Aharon
