Revisiting the upper Rakaia in MSFS

I was looking for a video on my old computer and got side-tracked, I found one of the first videos of MSFS back in August 2020, so I redid the flight on my new PC. This is the first actual flight for a while, I live in the sim, but generally just on the ground at Taieri for the last few months. This is pretty much default MSFS, including the aircraft, although it does have Kelvin's latest tree update etc. It runs rock-steady at 4K, and it is this sort of flight which will finally bring me around to VR!

For this sort of flight the work Kelvin has done is brilliant, but I do turn it off when I'm working on scenery -- it does tend to cover the town of Mosgiel, which borders the Taieri airfield, with masses of trees, and turns my airfield scrub into trees. Still, with some tweaking/development, it is another step towards reality in NZ.

Fantastic scenery views on this part of New Zealand, is this without extra mesh-upgrading addon? If so, better mountainviews than our Alps here in Europe.

Yeah, there are plenty of places here which won't look right until we get a good elevation update. I can't wait, really, as I'd love to fly further into the alps with proper pointy bits!

I always wonder if realistic looking Alps and mountains can be possible for FSX the same way you see in MS2020 and P3D
