I'm in the same boat but I d0 dispair when I see things like update 9 being about 10 gig in size

It would be nice having flying boats that actually float in the water, rather than sitting on top of it, but there are other reasons I won't be going to MSFS.

You mean as in the first image? It seems accurate (at least when stationary). It may not be as accurate when on the move but by an large its not too bad IMHO.

Exactly.

That first shot is a beauty. In my FSX and also my FS9.1 Classic, all the flying boats from the 6-engined Latecoere down sat on the water, and the wingtip floats barely got wet. I was one of many who tried adjusting the contact points to get a more realistic waterline. Trouble was if you got the plane to sit down, the flight dynamics didn't have enough oomph to get it moving for take-off.

Great shots JK, Look at #2, the way the shadow folds around the wake..... I'm a long way off MSFS at the moment, but I never get tired of looking at the screens.

P G Taylor often mentions being blinded by the water thrown up over the nose of a PBY in the early stages of a heavy takeoff. Once you get 'on the step' it clears. I saw the Catalina at Wanaka a few years back, and it was just as Taylor described.
