Progressive Aerodyne SeaRey Elite.
This machine is a typical light aircraft and could be bought as a kit. The manufacturer claims that an experienced hobbyist can assemble them in 400 hours. Honestly not for me. But you could also buy it "ready-made." It is a two-seater, a flying boat for 2 people. It does not have an autopilot. The well-known Rotax 912 is the engine. I don't know if there are registered specimens in New Zealand, but they could certainly be used for air hiking.

The thing rises well. It doesn't have the Rotax 912 but the turbocharged 914. The difference was palpable on a flight from Bolzano to Venice. A tiny motor went quite well for her over the Alps.
