So this is the last production version of the P-40N model, again with the Allison V 1710 engine. Here in my 1/72 scale model display case I have two machines P40N, one of the 89th Fighter Squadron 80th Fighter Group
flown in Assam, India and one flown by a Noel B. Paris, of the 49th FG 7th FS.

Nice.
I think I'll buy it and wait for the patches to come, I believe there are some issues.
But this is "our" version, although I've lost track of the NZ Warbirds colours.
Strange white tail, eh?

what's strange about the white tail?
That was a theatre marking around New Guinea

Well it is a somewhat odd look for an aircraft that carries camo green elsewhere, presumably to hide it from prying eyes!
But I guess the risk of shooting down the wrong aircraft overrides those concerns in certain theatres, like D-Day stripes too.
JK where does the above paint emanate from?

That white tail is correct in SWPOA. When it was introduced, self-identification was more important than camouflage. A little later, in 1944, camouflage paintwork was abolished altogether. I don't have time at the moment to look it up.
