Queenstown is, just like in real life, a good spot to have a play.
Still learning my fabulous H145

There's water and weather, and mountains

Alas the winter snowcap doesn't seem to have found its way into this build

Plenty of avionics

Of course there's more than one way to do the tour

This sim certainly nailed the water in every way.

All of the recent MSFS shots, especially these, show just how far we've come.

:hesaid: Charl , beautiful work . I wasn't far away from that location this afternoon but in another dimension.
Short of "smellsim" , visually I can't imagine how much more real this MSFS can become ...amazing .

I'm learning to like photogrammetry, I did think that I'd be switching it off when NZ was updated, but if you stick to some rules then it is very effective. In a heli it works particularly well for sightseeing.

Thanks Marty, but:
Thought I'd get away with that shot! Not here among the eagle-eyed :)
I'd assumed the jetty was part of the NZQN scenery but clearly not.
I will watch my step from now on...

I do wonder what caused the melted look though, it's not apparent on the buildings higher up.

Robin the H145 was entirely your fault, I saw it at Taieri as you may recall.
And I agree the PG does a really good job from that vantage point, simply because it is so accurate.
The other standout of this sim is the roads which generally do not look like a Mobius Strip pasted on a picture of the terrain.
I picked Auckland City's Grafton Gulley on day 1 and it's a pretty good rendering given there is maybe 50m elevation difference across carriageways.
