I think that Heath Well's Christchurch/Canterbury scenery contains a landable carrier in Lyttelton harbour. Mind you, the photoreal pack it comes in is 194mb in size. Find it here: http://www.nzscenery.com/fs2004.html

The fictional HMNZS Waikato Aircraft Carrier is the obvious other alternative, available here at only 1.8mb :)

There is an ARK ROYAL completed a couple months back , more suited and looks a little more like the Melbourne , May thats a better choice ? :) @ the CBFS site

sorry chaps it is not possible to achieve

part of a Quote from fsshipyards forum
("It's not simple because we're doing things with FlightSim that it was never designed to do. Even Microsoft doesn't know how to make it work simply. Most of what it has to do for carrier AI (short landings, short takeoffs, short taxi distance, runway elevation above surrounding terrain, etc.) doesn't work normally, and we've had to invent tricks to make it work at all. Those tricks sometimes don't work, so we have to invent new tricks to make them work. It's not simple, and never will be unless Microsoft writes a whole new version of Flightsim just for this.")

that is with AI carriers . static scenery carriers is another story but they don't move anywhere as is the one in lyttleton harbour it is a scenery file .

well tried my best but it doesn't work according to the experts :(
off to look at alog barge now

All the carriers in FSX are landable, so you set them up as traffic and bobs your uncle.

Have I done it? Ahem, well no, but it sounded easy in the SDK...honest. The point is this isnt a problem in the new sim.

Well there's one small "cheat" - set your FS internal weather to give you a max headwind along the deck. I believe the best you could get in FS9 was 36 knots. Makes a big difference in getting a vampire off the Ark Royal.

Now if it were possible to simulate the Enterprise heading into a 30 knot headwind at max power... well, we'd need at least the ability to set FS internal windspeed at 60 kts+

Anyone tried setting winds in active sky or the likes? Is it possible to set such strong winds into a DIY WX file?

I've set FS9 winds up to 60-75kts before. :P Go into User Customized weather, and then 'Advanced' or similar - you can change it all in there... ;)

x-plane simulates moving aircraft carriers and frigates really well, a lot of fun.

Kade 'KC' completed a series , Ill twist his arm to post it at Flightsim.com with instruction to install , will require down load off Ark Royal and Victorious from www.flyingstations.com and course you have the Nimitz by Javier Fernandez .
