C-23A "Sherpa" in use...

Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, Honolulu, (PHNL) - Barking Sands Pacific Missile Range Facility Airport (PHBK)
Short C. 23A "Sherpa"
Honolulu International Airport is also used for military purposes (Hickam Air Force Base) and from there we fly material transport to Kauai to the Barking Sands missile defense station and test base. The aircraft is an old "Sherpa" of the US Army. Army (!) not Air Force, a small transporter, the civilian variant of which is the Short SD 3-30. As a pensioner in oh-so-rich Germany, you don't have much to smile about. There were actually other aircraft on my wish list, such as the Phantom II, the Harrier and the Airbus A 300-600. But the Short SD 33-30 and 3-60 came out. Why? They correspond to my "flying habits" and you can fly from a major airport to a runway to somewhere in the middle of nowhere without it feeling "anyway wrong."

A perfect hop for this aircraft. Hard to believe this is the "Stretched" version of the Shorts design!

Charl, I have previously differentiated the Sherpas based on the tail unit and did not consider that there are "Sherpa´s" with a long fuselage and double tail unit. In this respect. Thanks. I never stop learning. They fly similarly and have a near similar cockpit, but they are not the same.

Flight Simulator 4 already had Hawaii and the Caribbean islands as the first add-ons, I suspect. Back then, you still had to have a lot of imagination.
The Short 3-30 and 3-60 are really high typical watch shops. In contrast, the Embraer 110 and the DHC 7, which I also use, are more modern. But on the other hand, they are as much “airplane as I need”, although I have Boeing and Airbus planes here too, I no longer have the ambition to use them. The only aircraft of this type that will see more use is the Boeing 757-200, which is being worked on. Then I installed the Airbus A 310, but haven't touched it yet, and the Boeing 737-700 from PMDG. But I'm actually not interested in the one with FMC programming by hand and without EFB.
