I am a VERY big fan of NZA Simulations sceneries, and their NZNS is my go-to for a quick flight or whatever.
The level of detail is astonishing, and you go there just to see what they did.

I got their Tauranga pack some time ago, and was not all that impressed with my first take of it.
The airport is contiguous with the town, which is stock photogrammetry complete with melted tall structures which are visible from the airport!
But I decided to spend some more time with it, given it is actually a regional scenery.

Came across this: on the OTHER side of Motiti Island, which itself is 20km offshore!
Nobody except my Rescue Helicopter would ever go there.
So one wonders how it came about, at the expense of some better town detailing?

What this was all about:
HPG provides "Mission Packs" for this ship.
I'd never bothered as it all seemed a bit like something for the kiddies.
But there was an update, and I thought Oh Well.

So we are to pick up the patient from the island and deliver to hospital.
Now here's the clever bit: you are at some random point on the planet and the software goes looking, and finds a nearby hospital!

Then creates a flight plan.
There are also some flight crew animations

Image

The hospital helipad lights up with some smoke (blowing in the same direction as the windsock), and the crew unloads once you switch engines to flight idle.

Mission accomplished, I'm sure somewhere there will be a score of achievements too.
It's a fine line you walk, to avoid feeling you are in a cartoon.
But this one pulls it off by offering support to the flightsim experience, rather than turning it into a games arena.

Not sure how many Missions you would fly more than once, but it was fun.

Does this mission work anywhere in the world? Or just NZ?

Thank you Marty, clever indeed.

Well I tried it on the exact opposite side of the planet: Madrid airport.
Sure enough it found a hospital (which I checked using Maps) and generated a flight plan

So the package has the ability to generate a search result involving "Nearby Hospital"
Does this mean my PC will get plenty of offers involving bullfighting apparel?
Time will tell, I am already owned :D

EDIT:

I flew the mission, and yup, the destination was marked!

Nice set.. I love NZAs Tauranga probably because I live here..

.I dont really get the melted building look but maybe that's because I have a faster internet connection...you could turn photogrammetry off?

There is a airstrip with some detail on Motiti Island as part of the Tauranga package. There are a number of daily flights to Motiti in 172s and 206s.

The local rescue service now has a H145 - wonder if there is a repaint for it on flightsim.to? It was originally Dunedins.

There is indeed a repaint available, advertising slightly altered:

It's a strange place, Motiti - privately owned, a couple of dozen folk living there.
But all that charter traffic !

Charl,

Once more. Cool that it appears to work anywhere in the world. I'm going to find my local EMS heli and fly a few missions!
I've replied three times and none of them have shown up.
