Captain Sim C-130 , MSFS 2020

Not to bad for $19.00 NZD.
I'm not getting involved in the politics with these guys...I've been with them since they released the Mig 21, and have had no problems at all.
The problems I was having with liveries was my fault. Trying to add a paint to an H model, when it was meant for an E model, it has since been solved, as has the third party thing....thanks to CS.
The rivet counters are, as we speak complaining about systems that don't work on the up graded model...its a $19.00 model....get over it...
Anyway ...this is some of what you get for $19.00 NZD.

Well it's OK.
But this is such an important aircraft I cannot believe the industry left it to CS.
You'll gather my history with them is umm... colourful.

On a side topic: did the RNZAF just send an old Herk to help out in Vanuatu???
Which failed to arrive, because "broken".
WTH we just bought a bunch of new ones.
And much fanfare about Last Flights etc

The Defence Force was delayed arriving into Vanuatu after a fault on one of the older Hercules plane.
Labour said it was embarrassing, but a new Hercules plane has landed in Port Vila and a second is on the way to Noumea.

Literacy levels at RNZ must be pretty low. one of the older Hercules planes

Me too I do not know why people bash Captain Sim all the time. I am very happy and very satisfied with my Captain Sim C-130, 707, 757, and 727 packages for use of FSX. Whenever I have any technical problem with any of those purchased planes due to my unfamiliarity of any of those cockpit panels, Captain Sim's tech support forums are always helpful to me and always explain or teach me how to use complex cockpit panels. I bought those planes on sale for lousy ten bucks each and it was worth every penny.

They were good in FSX days but most of their material for MSFS is pretty lightweight...ie no cockpits

Most developers for flight sims wax and wane with time - as personnel move to other companies/projects. It's always a shame when a particular developer goes downhill - buoyed for a time by reputation for past products.

CS's C-130 was ground-breaking and legendary - but that's ancient history now. CS are a shadow of what they once were. Releasing aircraft with exterior models only is a downright con. I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole now.

Sadly, A2A seem to be going the same way. Such magnificent products, but so little output for many months now (for whatever reason). It's stretching my loyalty to the limit!!

All is not gloom though - as many *freeware* developers are creating content that's way better than a lot of payware. There's still plenty to enjoy!

You have a good memory mate, yes, they did have their own smell. Obviously( I think) you are recalling the time I got you up on the flight deck of one (cant remember which one) I was refuelling at Wigram.
Those were the days, we maybe able to get that "whiff" again when 01 comes home to rest at Wigram for the last time.

Yeah I’m hanging out for the Aerostar. I have no idea why they are dragging the chain on it. They even own a real one!

Adam, I agree...the whole minimum input for maximum price is wrong, and as you state its not just CS.
My comments were Purely subjective, based on what I wanted .
Regarding the exterior only model...well, it was advertised as just that....so if you( not you) don't want it...then don't buy it....its not bloody rocket science.
Things change, people change...nothing will be as good or bad, or as cheap as it is today.
This C-130 perfectly filled a gap in a sim I never thought I would never be able to enjoy...a double win. I think CS have listened to the market, and this offering is some kind of attempt at redemption...maybe too late for some, but that's their problem.

If my memory's right, I believe it was 04 we did the refuel on.
I'll always remember that noisy tanker...

Ahhh yes, the old Epex tanker and trailer, no hydrant points at Wigram. I hated that thing, its screaming engine, and crash gearbox.
In all my time there, I think I only got that bastard thing into 3rd gear once.
Re Bulking it( replacing pumped fuel) was nice on a good day, you could lay in the sun with one hand in the top tank hatch...when you felt fuel on your finger tips...push the dead
man switch. It was however the worst job early in the morning mid winter.
More memories coming in .... I remember being duty refueler at Whenuapai ...arrive at work at 1700hrs and going through until 0700, covering both Whenuapai and Hobby.
Getting called to Hobsonville was rare unless 3 Squadron had an early morning SAR.
The main early morning client was 5 Squadron...with their planned surveillance flights, and sometimes an early SAR.
