I agree both schemes suit it, bit the black and white scheme is stunning.

Hehe ... I've always loathed the black & white liveries - just a bit too vulgar for my taste! Green & blue is more refined - and say much more about NZ, IMHO!

Esp. on this model!

These just don't do it for me. Too much fuselage depth for the "Wave" and not enough length for the Black scheme, which I don't really like on any aircraft anyway.
But the paints themselves look well done.

I have to agree. The A380 is quite ugly compared to other Airbus variants - yet the B747 managed to look very graceful for its size.

Could you imagine the queue at baggage claim and immigration processing with the -1000 derivative? Even worse if 2 arrived at the same time. It would take you a day to get processed at LAX.

The 900 looks credible to me , but the 1000 looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Even with carry on only it would be a nightmare.

My understanding is that pre-Covid, international travel would have been capped by airport time slot availability.
The A380 aimed to improve airport throughput within that constraint.

The 9000 I believe was a step in the evolution of the design, as air traffic outgrew the base model, and airports adapted to the larger peak loading.
Who knows what the post-pandemic world will look like, long term?
