This time, I departed from Singapore Seletar (WSSL) – a field with deep roots.
Once a major RAF base, Seletar was involved in the Malayan Campaign during December 1941 to February/March 1942, when Japanese forces advanced down the peninsula.
Though not home to fighter squadrons like the Brewster Buffalo (those operated from Kallang and other fields), Seletar hosted various reconnaissance aircraft, flying boats and support units – including Catalina flying boats, Hudson bombers, and the infrastructure for Allied coordination.
After the war, Seletar remained active under British control before being transformed into a civil airport, now serving as a reliever for Changi, focused on regional flights and business aviation – the natural habitat for our CJ3+.
My early morning departure into the tropical haze was smooth, with a climb to FL450 and perfect cruise performance. The skies over Java were calm, visibility excellent, and the approach into Bali (WADD) was textbook.
The CJ3+ keeps proving it's more than just a pretty aircraft. It’s a jet with range, heart and personality.
