Flight Replicas posted a conversion to native 2020 of their old FSX/P3D DC-4 on flightsim.com, and since I was somewhat involved in the conversion, I also had quite a few repaints ready...similar for the B-24 btw, maybe later?
It's not perfect as a model, it's a conversion after all, but I think it looks great, and since there's no other DC-4 on the horizon, I'm quite happy with this one.

I couldn't find a DC-4 with a New Zealand connection, but if you have any ideas...

TEAL (Tasmania Empire airlines Ltd and the forerunner to Air NZ) leased a few from Qantas and TAA following the flying boat groundings.
I’m not sure if they were painted in Teal colours or not. They did operate DC6s and they were in the Teal livery. It’s hard to tell them apart at a glance. You could always do a fictional paint using the DC6 scheme.

What is not operating well following the conversion?

there are many small things, like part of the fuel system, the cowl flaps, and not everything is clickable in the cockpit, but overall it functions well.

Love all screenshots.

Can you please give me history of that U.S. air force plane with strange green stripes?? Is it presidential plane or what?? Do not remember seeing USAF C-54 with green stripes. It must be new fact to me.

Aharon, that is an aircraft of the 320th Troop Carrier Squadron, a support unit of the 509th Composite Group, the ones that dropped the atomic bombs on Japan.

Thank for awesome answers. Somewhat I knew that it was some VIP transport plane but decided to guess that this livery must be for some American president maybe Franklin Roosevelt, Darn that was close guess for me!

You weren't too far off, this DC-4, nicknamed 'the Sacred Cow', was the first US presidential aircraft, used by president Roosevelt.

Thanks for great explanation in history of President Roosevelt's DC-4.

In case you have not noticed, the feathers in front of the green stripe of the DC-4 has similar shape as feathers in front of the blue striipe of America's first Air Force One used by President Harry Truman which was why I thought that the green stripe plane must be for President Roosevelt.

BTW, the Sacred Cow DC-4 had built in elevator to lift President Roosevelt into and out of the plane because he was wheelchair bounded.

FOR ANYONE, this link as seen below shows ENTIRE history of planes being used by American presidents. Teddy Roosevelt was FIRST president to fly on the plane!!!

The ATL-98 DC-4 conversion refers to the Aviation Traders ATL-98 Carvair, a British cargo aircraft converted from Douglas DC-4s starting in 1961. Its most striking feature is the cockpit, located in a hump above the cargo area.

as far as I know there are no plans for the ATL
