Sorry for linking to another forum, but It's making my work a lot easier:

Well...

I have finally got a new PC, and this flight is the first "long" flight I have on it. It's a flight from Amsterdam til St. Maarten. The plane is Overland/SMS MD-11 with a freeware repaint from AVSIM. I use Cloud9 Amsterdam scenery and FlyTampa St. Maarten. The water is Real Environment Pro, and the clouds is from Flight Environemt. I uses a overlooked addon called Blue Sky 2 for my sky.

My AI is manually installed. All the AI is freeware, and uses the best models available (the payware AI models can't compete with the freeware AI models).

Thanks for looking and enjoy!

I just love that AES stuff, changes the experience of airports completely.
And you're right about the AI, we are really spoiled at the moment with a wide range of excellent freeware offerings.
Anyone come across screenshots of the new Dutch scenery?
I see the instructions on how to download it are around 10MB on AVSIM.

Thanks. I fall in love with the first freeware model Overland made. It might be 3 years ago now. ½ year later version 2 came out, and that included a VC for the plane. Since then I have spent many hours in the plane. Mostly cargo, but also some pax flights.

You can download a freeware MD-11 from the Overland site. The one you can download has PW-engines, while I uses the GE-engine version of the palen. And the GE-version is only in the payware package.

You gan get the freeware here: http://www.overland.co.jp/japaneseairports/special.html

If you uses FSX, then you can install in into your FSX/simobjects/aircraft folder and then download a file on avsim (can't remember the filename) which has a document telling what to change for the Overland-planes so they can be used in FSX.

For the new Netherland download I'll never download it. It's too large a file. Since I'm not flying much in the Netherlands I'll never use it. The only thing I can say is that the AMS scenery should be reworked in it's own package, so all the simmers that don't want to download the full 21 GB file, can get the AMS scenery. Much better, and maybe also more downloads.

Absoulty love that shot!

I have been planning on flying exactly the same route for my first real time (1x) trans-Atlantic flight, how long was your flight time?

Also, what aircraft flies this route in real life, the KLM B744? They no longer operate MD11's do they?

KLM still has the MD-11 flying. You might be thinking of the Northwest DC-10. They are gone now. But for St. Maarten KLM flies both B744 and MD-11. I checked vroute (a great routetool both for online flights but also for offline flights) the day I flew the route. It said that it was a MD-11 that was flying that day. So I trusted vroute and gave some power to my MD-11 (my favorite PAX- and cargoplane).

The route is about 8½ hour long. I have once flown the other way. From St. Marteen to AMS. At that time it was a Martinair B763. But it's more then 2 years ago.

But thanks for the comments. They have been read with a lot of enjoy. And it's okay with the new NL2000 scenery. I'm flying in the Netherlands, adn since the scenery is for that area it's okay with me.

If anyone cares, I am busy 'testing' our redundant backup line by dloading this at around 500+KB/s... dry.gif ninja.gif

according to the download manager, it should be about 2 or 3 hours per DVD... so I expect to have it completed tomorrow smile.gif So if you dont want to wait, and can spare a couple of dollars (around $5) to cover DVD's and postage, I would be willing to burn them onto DVD's and send them to anyone who wants them...

PM me if you're interested.
