No, not the movie. I'm talking about the Fokker Dr.I Tri-plane family!

In case you didn't know, there is a whole fleet of replica's based down at the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre, owned by Peter Jackson. Zac has repainted most of them (See here), so it's a perfect excuse to take them up over the REAL NZ scenery that includes their home airfield.

I've been flying these little warbirds around all week, and absolute love them- really easy to handle (in the sky at least) and smooth on frame rates around the Marlborough area! I've literally taken hundreds of screenies, but narrowed them down to 19 shots, 2.21mb in file size. Sorry 56k'ers!

1. to 5. Enter Von Richthofen

-couldn't decide which head on view I liked the best, the first or last one

6. to 13. An attempt at a formation

- you may notice all the screenies where I got them in a line are all from the same spot- its harder than it looks you know! I can't even imagine how Charl manages to do this in Harvards, or anything faster than 110 knots!

14. to 19. Later that evening...

-notice the political message in shot 15? Its quite ironic actually, the BP logo and the Luftwaffe logo appear together in almost every screenie! By the way, I really recommend that you take a spin around Omaka at sunset if you have the REAL NZ scenery. I'm thinking about adding this to my simple pleasures thread, its like you have the whole place to yourself, very peaceful smile.gif

And before you ask what the base model is called- just search 'fokdr.zip' over at flightsim.com winkyy.gif The install is only around 5mb and each of Zac's repaints are around 2/3mb. Well worth the download and I'd be keen to try this again on multiplayer again with anyone rather than doing it with FSRecorder!

FANTASTIC!!!

Thanks Andy, that's just made my night! Gorgeous shots! I love that first one of Manfred's Dreidecker, very cool! And that lineup, wow! Nicely done!

Looking forward to more! I totally agree about the flying characteristics, she really is a honey in the air. Be nice to do some multi with you sometime...

*grumbles incoherently about only having dialup*

PS - Uploading Weiss' machine now. Then Wenzl and Manfred, and that's Jasta 11 done! Woo! Next project.....

Pretty cool, and inspired me to finally install FSRecorder. I've yet to get the hang of it, at the moment I need to figure out some techniques to at least get two fokkers in the same part of the sky:)
It is great though to at least see the others doing their stuff around the airfield.
In the meantime, here's a couple of shots from my first foray with the Fokkers...

Well done Trolly, setting 'em all up in a row like that.
I'm downloading the next one as we speak, the race is on for the screenshot lining the whole fleet up perfectly...
Great idea, Zac, keep them coming!

Cheers for the comments guys, and good on ya Robin!

Zac has just given me permission to upload all his 7 paints into one zip file which will make an easy download for those of you yet to grab the tri-planes!

Are you uploading to Avsim?

Hey, I'm getting there, but still some work to do:

It's a great playground, I do hope I can cure my computer of its video handling problems.
Treat this as a series of stills.

There is a very good Sopwith Camel at flightsim.com (camel04.zip) which is begging for an Omaka repaint.

Thanks to Charl intoducing me to the FS-Recorder converter and spending much time explaining how it works, I've come up with a slightly better Fokker formation:

If anyone wants the .frc recorded file of the formation, just PM me and I'll send it through- it's a little over 1mb.

I'm delighted you hung in there, great formation shot!
(Which I meant to do, and now have blown!)
One has to be careful, not to be too precise about positioning, otherwise things look contrived.
I've started tinkering with making the spacings "ouit" by a few feet, and introducing a time lag offset.
If you send me the frc I'll have a go and send it back for you to have a further play.
PS where's #7? I thought we had the whole fleet?

Yeah, unfortunately that is quite apparent in the above screenshots. I just read and replied to your post in the CAP thread and will send you through the .frc now.
