Well, I think, it was a sluggish and underpowered aircraft and a Maintenance-Nightmare. It was only good flying Mach 2 without external weapons and straight ahead. Nearly half of the production was destroyed in Vietnam. Yes, 27.5 "kills" against obsolete MiG 17´s, but ... 320 losses in combat and 382 total... mostly against Anti-aircraft-missiles.
Aircraft concept/design of the 50s , J75 s still push it along , 1390 mph and could hold its own with the 17 , at least it had a cannon ! all saying It did have an amazing combat record ! mainly the fact there was nothing else with it caliber/strengths , mentioned it failing was Ground fire ! and most targets the Thud's went after were the hi defended areas !benwynn wrote:QUOTE (benwynn @ Feb 10 2008, 10:30 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>He Might not enter, seeing as hes in Denmark.
