Seeing this is such a visually breathtaking part of the world I decided on doing a little sightseeing trip....We would have a great time taking up the Kiwi Moth ZK-BRC belonging to Mount Cook Flightseeing. Our short trip would take us away from NZMC, past the Hermatige Hotel then up to altitude and a fly past of Mount Cook itself. Then a 10-15 min trip north-west to the Franz Josef Glacier and into NZFJ.

Departing Mount Cook airport.

The Hermitage...I can highly recommend the rooms here...very nice! ;)

Winding through the mountains in a slow bid for altitude...

...and a flyby of Mount Cook :o

The rest of the area is worth seeing too as we begin our track for Franz Josef

Another breathtaking sight as we head down the glacier... B-)

A veiw of the valley from the glacier itself....just wonderful.

Next stop will be Tekapo from where we will head to Wanaka...hopefully right in time for the airshow?

Cheers
Florian

Great choice of aircraft Florian!
Just enough distance to climb up to Mt Cook ;)
And just in time too - I read today that Tasman Glacier will be gone sooner than you know, due to global warming...

Umm its in Peter Lohrs Mount Cook scenery - you need to fly up the valley a bit.
