Hi,

Apparently it has stopped permently although it still says on the Air NZ time tables that it is back in October
This information is from Air NZ pilots. I might have to do a photshoot of Rotorua to Christchurch.
Thanks guys for the comments.

Cheers
Daniel

A bit pixely (have you tried turning Anti Aliasing on?) but love the heat blur- I was experimenting with the same effect with some of my screenies today too.

Hmm, thats a bit weird, the last 3-4 (?) years they've operated it over the summer with a break in the quiet season (May-Oct like you said), it'd be nice to see it back again in October, two's better than one...

I think an ATR has replaced the 737 bacause some days the 737 had loads around 25 passenger :(
I talked to some Air NZ pilots and they said they probably need about 70 to break even.
And low passenger numbers were frequent, like 30-50 people. Its hard cause some days it is full (mostly on weekends or holidays)

If the Air NZ 737s come in July and August for a few days then they might come back in October (this is to keep the pilots current for Rotorua)

Yea, I sometimes wonder if they manage to break even - I wouldn't imagine there was a huge demand for services to Auckland Christchurch, or at least not to fill two 737's departing within 30mins of each other...

The 737s are to Christchurch and CHC and Queenstown, not Auckland.
That's what the Beech operates for us!
Usually its the Beech to AKL, the Q300 to WLG and the ATR and 737 to CHC I think.

Anyway, if Air NZ is cutting the 737 from Rotorua, then that will be a bit of a blow for the Airport Company because keeping domestic 737 services was one of the most important parts of the development plan if I remember correctly.
At least we'll still get Qantas if Air NZ do stop the 737.

Cheers
