After seeing how long it's been since my FSX green machine pics, I thought it was time I posted up some new screenies. This time it's something different to the usual NZ screenies. With VPA I get to fly all sorts of things, so since getting back from holiday, I've been busy flying around places I visited in the USA, and also for airlines over there I like (eg due to fleet or route structure etc)
So I've been flying a bit of Alaska Airlines, United Airlines and Southwest Airlines. These are some screenshots from those adventures. Keep in mind since I really only fly in NZ and the USA, I have enhanced scenery in the US.. (Ultimate Terrain etc)

Arriving on Southwest Airlines into El Paso TX in the 737NG (Overland)(freeware scenery from avsim)

Departing ELP again, this time recreating my flight home for real, as SWA22 heading to Phoenix, AZ.

United 33's lonely departure into the New York sunset for the long trek across the US to Los Angeles (posky)

Jetblue 33 departing Rockford for JFK (overland)

Fedex MD11 arriving into Los Angeles on another night cargo run (overland)

United Airlines (Ted) departing for Phoenix, from LAX (overland)(Blue Sky scenery from avsim)

Departing Monterrey in CA, a Skywest E120 (United Express) heads back to LA

Departing Anchorage for Seattle in "Salmon thirty salmon" (50 North)

And onroute over the mountains

Departing Anchorage again this time for Vancouver

Arriving into Vancouver

Regards,

Edit: Sorry, I must have mistakenly not resized two of the shots down to 800 x ###. Sorry for the inconvenience that causes.

Thanks for the post, I like that rather sassy approach in #1!
I also have the Overland Boeing series but have never used the 737.
Looks not too shabby actually, how's the FDE?

Great shots, Alister!

Some great airlines, and sceneries showcased here. Haven't flown around the US for a while, but I'll definitely have to try some of those sceneries thumbup1.gif

Thanks guys. I'm a little late on the turn in shot 1, but i tried to fly the exact same (obviously visual) arrival I took when going to ELP. I use updated airfiles for the Overland fleet. In fact, the poor performance of Posky and IFDG were my reason for getting the package in the first place, now I wouldn't want to live without it (the posky NG roll rate is extremely poor). I am very happy with the NG performance, but as I said, use airfile enhancements by Bryan Betts (search his name). He hasn't done one for the NGs from Overland, so I guess he thinks they are ok too. I've flown hundreds of 737 hours in flightsim, and I'm quite happy with this one smile.gif
The LAX scenery is by Gottfried Razek (search his name at avsim, it's amazing for freeware!)

Your shots are consistently good Alister (hint- post more often- hint). I think I might try some flying in the US, there seems to be a good range of addons around and it gives me an excuse to fly larger aircraft without having to do a 3-4 hour flight biggrin.gif

You know Ian, something really cool happened when I was flying last month regarding his scenery. I was on the left side of the 737 from LAX, looking out the window and heading further east than I've ever been in my life. I looked down, and recognised the ground beneath me! But, I'd never been there before! It was simply that the photo real scenery in flight sim was SO good, that I recognised where I was due to being there before in FS9. Very cool!!
I said to myself "That's Luke AFB and Phoenix must be approaching" Two minutes later there we were...

I actually took that trip to meet a flight simmer friend in El Paso. Stopped in at Phoenix on the way home to say "I'd been there" laugh.gif

Thanks Tom, that is one reason I enjoy the US. Lots of bigger jets operating shorter flights. Here you fly around NZ in nothing bigger than a 737 (or 777 twice a week from NZCH-NZAA). Anything else, it's 3 hours flying across the ocean to get ANYWHERE. The USA has lots of major airports very close to one another, so there are so many choices for somewhere different to fly. Not to mention the amount of quality addons you can find for the USA biggrin.gif it's a huge country with so much to explore. Nothing against flying in NZ, but I've done hundreds (make that thousands) of hours around NZ, and it's nice to go new places smile.gif

Just flew Toronto-La Guardia in an AA A300 (Overland) with a decent sound pack, Activesky, and FSPassengers. Good fun biggrin.gif

I am using an afcad for Anchorage which corrects the runway numbers, as they are now numbered 25 instead of 24 (etc) but other than that it is default. I think it's one of those airports that microsoft put a photo under by default (correct me if I'm wrong). I don't think anyone has done a payware Anchorage yet, which I do find surprising!

Sorry for the slow reply Ben (I've moved houses and now have Telstra Cable!!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif)
No it doesn't unfortunately, just the default LAX on top. Plus on the ground with airport photo scenery like this, you have the planes parked there that day pictured on the ground beneath you laugh.gif
But it looks great departing like this biggrin.gif

Sorry for some more shots from outside New Zealand, but the USA is my 'other' home really! (btw I'm married to an American)

I've been flying Alaska Airlines 737s for the last few days, here are some moments in time..

On cruise, heading towards KSNA

Descending over the Oxnard/Ventura area in Southern California

Departing Portland, vectored departure (PMDG737 btw)

Gear coming down

Final for KSEA pic 1(Seattle)

Pic 2

Southwest blasts off as I taxi to the active

And finally my arrival into Tucson, AZ, with new photo scenery from Gottfried Razek
