If you are familiar with Howard Hughes, or saw the movie "The Aviator" this is the plane he crashed just after setting the speed records of the day (1935)....

Yes more screenies would be great - looks like a nice add on from the ads I have seen of it. Your sky/cloud textures also look very good.

Thanks...it's FSX and available at Aerosoft....I'm learning how to fly it proper...it's not easy, but not terribly difficult either. Constantly gauge watching and making adjustments. Aerosoft has a warning that it's for the serious simmer only as it is difficult, but one catches on quickly IMO...

Here are a few quick exteriors I took...thanks to all of you for the kind comments....

Havnt seen the movie yet Wanabie , but have many books about Howie and this aircraft ... the externals are just as brilliant as the cockpit , i do like the metal texture , i guess this is now your executive/private bus for getting around and checking RealNZ scenery smile.gif

Thanks Ian....I'm just getting FSX up to speed...in fact, the first shot was taken after I loaded the aircraft just to check FPS and do some settings adjustment. It wasn't intended to be a flight, but I really liked what I saw on the screen and wanted to reproduce it...

I have the full compliment of RNZ scenery for FS9 and I'm certainly looking forward to having the same with FSX. NZ is so incredibly beautiful, truly magnificent...people are fun and warm....I just love it...hence my forum name...

Cheers,
-Russ

EDIT: Ian, you're better off with the books. The movie was entertaining, but as in most cases some (much) theatrical license was applied....

Seeing your screens sorely tempts me, KWB, very dramatic!
The movie was a bit...too dramatic, you're right, but I enjoyed the way L de C did that rivet inspection on the Racer.
"Sand 'em down...Polish them again, fellas..." (while the tech team's faces fell, after yet another all-nighter)

Looks like awesome work from Aerosoft, the photoreal textures on the aircraft top it off. thumbup1.gif

I've seen the movie and read a few books about him. The movie was remarkably accurate even though a small bit of artistic licence was applied, it was not over the top from what I can remeber anyway !!. The portrayal of Howard battling the senate is incrediby accurate if you've ever seen the real footage. Of course they compressed all the highlights of his life into just a few hours. It would be nice to see a sequel which looks at the remainder of his life, his weird withdrawal and shady backgroud dealing with politicians and influential people around the world.
