Well, its been quite a few months since i posted anything here on the New Zealand Flight Forums, so I thought i'd come back with what I like to call an 'exciting possibility that isnt possible' tongue.gif
So without further ado, I give to you, a Boeing 777, complete with British Airways livery, but with two afterburners borrowed from none other than the XB-70......

Now then, only problem I have at this current time is the size of the afterburner itself, as in essence compared to the huge engine itself, the burner is rather quite small
So if any of you out there could point me towards a better (or bigger tongue.gif ) burner then by all means pop a link in the comments section
Also if you have anycreative criticism about this them don't be afraid to say, I wont bite your head off biggrin.gif

Nothing like a bit of playing around with things smile.gif Personally, I think that its a great way to get an understanding of how things (specifically talking about .fx files here) work.
What I would do, to experiment with the size of the burners, is make a copy of the xxxxx.fx file that the XB-70 uses and place that somewhere safe as a "stock" or default for when you get sick of your modified version.
Next, right click on the .fx file and "open with" notepad. You should see a long text list appear... a bit like a .cfg file really, lots of little subsections.
Its then a case of modifying some of those parameters to make the size larger... Google is your friend here rolleyes.gif

When I modified a crop-dusters spray effect to make a more realistic aerobatic smoke effect, all I was doing was shifting the effects inboards from the wingtips though, no size increase or decrease though...

Now completed the formula for the ideal smoke condition , should you tell them the plane ? ... if you have been following the forums their has been a lot of noise about a Nanchung , looking at the latter srceen . unsure.gif

Right you are Ian, the model that contained the spray .fx was the FS9/X Grumman Ag-Cat by Marcel du Plessis smile.gif
I can send email the .fx file to anyone who would like it to play around with, as Marcel kindly gave permission to modify, use and share it as long as he was given credit etc.
If I remember correctly you need to change the [Particle.0] and [Particle.1] X-Offset to give you the correct spacing as to where the effect "begins" in relation to the fuselage or cowling diameter.
Currently only set up for the Yak-18T in the screenshot, but can be changed within a few sec once you get the hang of the offsets...

Just adding some more pics since I never realised how far out the plane appears to be tongue.gif

Thanks for the replies guys, will certainly have a look into modifying the effects and I'll see what I come up with
Might be seeing some other planes soon as well possibly, as this is my new found hobby biggrin.gif

EDIT: Could anybody possibly help with the afterburner modifying? Otherwise it would be quite alot of guesswork after looking at the effect file smile.gif
