Who's been skydiving? What's it like? Where's a good place to do it in Christchurch?

Thinking of doing it for my 18th birthday coming up soon biggrin.gif

Many moons ago and pre wife and kids I did several jumps.

Go for it. I'd recommend it to anyone.

When I did my first jump I thought I'd freak about the height thing, but it wasn't an issue.

Good training I guess, so that when the time came it was automatic. Also at that height you don't really have an idea of scale. It wasn't until I was nearer terra firma that you get the ground rush.

Sorry I'm in NZPM so can't help with where in ChCh to go. Recommend a club though that doesn't have a decreasing membership after each weekend and a Jump Master with a name like Bounce and a permanent limp.
Testers are born to fiddle. What does this button do? Oh! Never mind.....

Ahh forget Christchurch, come over to fox glacier and I'll chuck you out ! We got a much much better skydive over here, big mountains an stuff to fly arround on the way up. happy.gif I'm sure you would love it, the amount of joy I see on peoples faces every day after they have jumped is incredible, although I'm yet to do it... dry.gif

Sounds like a plan, I really love it over there. My uncle used to work for one of the heli tour places in franz, got me on a free flight up onto the glacier last time I was there. It's a really really wonderful place laugh.gif

Wow, awesome video!!! Was tha A185 the same one as you fly/sits in your avatar? And where was the video camera mounted, I couldn't work it out.

Thanks so much for posting- I was just flying a Caribou around the West Coast in my sim the other day and it was brilliant to see it for real. That guy looked like he was having so much fun, I have just gotta try it for myself- the adrenaline rush looks intense ninja.gif
