Sometimes they use both, Ive had Dash 8's take off from NP shining like a bloody Christmas tree right into my house (not that im complaining :D )

Yep but i was meaning for the 747 in particular. From sitting in the jumpseat of -VAC I know that normally just two (out of 4) landing lights are used, and the taxi light is turned on when Landing/takeoff clearance is given (I guess in case the pilot forgets whether he's got it :D ).

PMDG 747 cost about 55 - 60 pounds, 140 - 150 NZ $! I think

On take-off? Are you right on the threshold (not literally, but you know what I mean...) or something?

Actually 54.95 Euros (FS9), so just over NZ$100 ;)

Alex

From were I see them there just after there initial climb out maybe 700-1200 ft and they still have there landing lights on its kind of hard to explain ill try and get some photos of what i see from the deck of my house, The ones departing to turn North fly straight towards me then make a sharp right hand turn almost 180' then the ones departing for the south also come head on then make a sharp left turn maybe 90'ish then fly right along side my house giving great profile shots! But then also some departing to south dont even turn at all and fly right over my house...

Ok guys thought i would throw in my reasons for the debate here, i realised that after posting the pics that i did leave the inbound landinglights on which is not by textbook 747 standards. but i thought it gives the side of the ship a "docked" kinda feel, ozzing some appeal. and with my pmdg i use FS2Crew and as soon as i transition past Alt 10k both landing lights go off and vice versa on the approch. And the reply to TROLLY asking if i fly the whole 12hour leg? Yup mate i sure do...well kinda. I do the full take off and manually fly her to transition Alt 180k and then slap her on Autopilot untill the T/D where i would normally go away or sleep and check on her everynow and then to check fuel consumption and recal checks. as for that the sim will pause at T/D and i can come back to it where i normally fly a percision approch. i get a real satisfied kick out of i guess.

Cheers all for the comments :-)\

Mate i hate to sound like a bragger but dude i've spent so much money on this hobby of mine :P . Its like my growing obsession, i cant recall how much i've spent on all this but to me its all worth it, but there was a good bonus about the pmdg 747, my fiancae brought it for me for my birthday so i was a happy man indeed. if i was asked to i would have to scundger up a list for you to name what i've put towards my sim hobby.
