What is the oldest registered Britten Norman Islander in New Zealand? What is the registration of the aircraft and who operates it.

I'll go for ZK-DBV con#164 to start with and I think this one is operated by
Real Journeys ?

This is a really good question - I'd have thought GBA had one of the oldies.
Perhaps Nunner will tell us how he knows these things cool.gif

Hmm think she rolled of the production line in 1970-1971 ish i think?
As for how i know this, well, its a long story but basically I lived under the flightpath to
EGHI and when i was 12 ish until i was 16 ish i became an a/c spotter and used to log all
into EGHI.
Coincidentally a number of BN'S used to come off the line at EGHJ and clear
customs at EGHI......I also did a tour of the BN factory in 1970 and have a soft spot for the company
and their aircraft.
There is a BN Historians group who are also very good at giving away historical info
regarding anything BN.
In the case of ZK-DBV that came from my own production list that i have.
I can also tell you she rolled out as G-51-164,then became G-AXYS, then VH-EOX before arriving here
I think in 1978 (Funnily enough the same year NZ let me in too !!)
For those of you who dont know EGHI is the home of the Spitfire.

Not a bad effort from me seeing as it was gleaned from my own little production/regos list....mind
you I did write it 36 years ago and its not been updated since then.
be quite good to see one of the aircraft preserved, probably end up as a spares source for others though.
I read somewhere that c/n 2 which was the first production Islander is being restored which is great, dont know what happened
to the prototype c/n 1.
Seem to remember the prototype got stretched into a longer version but they never went with that rather producing the Trislander although
the stretched Islander got used for that?!
