I'm happy to report that PMDG's Air NZ paint for the FS9 MD-11 has now been repaired

I was gobsmacked when I had a look at the spot view on final with flaps 35 set - I'm used to Boeings where the back of the wing gracefully unfolds and continues the curve of the top of the wing. This thing just blows a big raspberry at aesthetics and drops some great big tilting garage doors down into the airstream. You can see right there it's an evolution of the DC3

See what I can do That was only the second time I've flown it - did the London to Zurich tutorial then banged out a quick n dirty checklist based on that, and flew my old favourite NZCH - NZAA. I'd have more screenies from that flight but I spent most of it playing with the FMC trying to make the plane do things, or not do things, or undo whatever I'd just messed up The automation that Douglas built into this plane makes the 747-400 look like hard work, but the price of that is that you have to know how to work it. And It's not a boeing, and doesn't behave like one any more than an airbus would.
That was my 4th approach - I haven't got my head around reviewing the flight plan on the screens yet so the runway snuck up on me at quite an unexpected angle, and things got kind of lairy for a while while I tried different things out. So there's a good excuse to go flying some more
