Landing gear problem on saitek yoke

Hey all, i have the saitek yoke and quadrent and my landing gear button is the B1, however lately i have been having problems with the landing gear, it has a mind of its own and decides it wants to come down and lock in straight and level, and also on short finals it decides its had enough and goes back up, has this happened to anyone before or any ideas how it could be fixed?? thank you all in advance

Used to happen to me quite a bit because I always knocked that button with my hand by accident. I assigned that command to a button on the other side of the stem and have since had no worries

ok cheers. ill give that ago, however it sometimes happens to me when im on auto pilot and i leave the room with the gear up, however upon return it is down, and so are my points that i get on FSpassengers because of it cheers trolly

at the moment i use the up down toggle switch on the r/h side of the yoke for my gear control, i will be looking at the saitek switch panel soon to take over a few switches i have assigned

I have had the exact same thing and managed to narrow it down to the fact i had enabled the yoke in FS as well as having the thing setup in FSUIPC. I had enabled it to do some testing for someone else that didn't use FSUIPC and forgot to disable it. Every time i changed my view which is on the B1 B2 switch my gear would drop. I think the C1 and C2 button lowered flaps too. They would only ever go one way and it wasn't set up to do that in FS or FSUIPC as far as i know. I fixed it by disabling the controller in FS and only using FSUIPC.

There has been quite a lot written about this problem on the Internet, there have been some solutions found. If its the same problem as I had (as well as a lot of other saitek yoke users), then its actually a fault with the controller itself. For some reason the controller gives impulse to do certain things, particularly the gear and changing views. The fix seems to be doing what ZKIWI did, and using FSUIPC to select all inputs into FS. However, another thing to look into (according to the Saitek people) is to make sure you don't have any FS controls set to the Yokes 'Mode change' switch. That is the 3 stage switch behind the right yoke handle, these are not normal switches and shouldn't be used in FS. As I said there is quite a lot of information out there about this problem, so hopefully you will be able to sort it out.

The other benefit with using FSUIPC to control your stick is that you can then put those mode switches into use and effectively triple your buttons. I have mine setup so that mode 1 is on the ground and climb, mode 2 in the cruise and mode 3 i use on finals.. Some buttons remain constant in each mode but others swap there usage so i can do almost all the regular things with the buttons on the yoke. Once you get used to flicking modes it mkaes flying really easy.

the ghost button presses was an issue with the first release of the yokes, but saitek accepted the fault, fixed it and replaced the faulty ones. fyi i only use FSUIPC for my controls, but if you do that you must remember to remove the assignments in fs itself, or you will get that issue.

The other problem i have noticed with my yoke is that it is not a smooth as it once was... It is starting to get quite sticky.

Sorry this might be off topic here ... but Zkiwi how do you use your mode switch with FSUIPC on your Saiteck yoke ? is it possible to give me an example of how you have set it up ? thanks for your time ...I can start a new thread if you prefer ?

the only info i have was second hand, but it was the very first batch, it mainly seemed to affect USA and Europe, but a few did manage to make it our ways, from what i understand you would contact the place of purchase and take it back, explaining the issue and from what i was told, take a new one away (so long as it was within warranty) as for the sticky shaft, i have not had that issue, mine seemed to be pretty well oiled up when i brought mine. maybe some very light machine oil (like the kind used in sewing machines, or a plastic compatable oil) very lightly on the shaft, i would be hesitant about doing it personally. how long have you had the yoke for? if it is giving you this much trouble after a month i would take it back, explain the issues and ask for a new one.

good luck, saitek gear for me has been nothing but great, but them some have had issues. hope i am of some limited use
