Flight around Milford Sound and the West Coast

Post and comment on screen captures from the beautiful game here. Home of the monthly screenshot competition

Hi Guys- I decided I should actually do some flying as lately it seems I've just been starting the sim to check something and then close it again.

So I fired up the Strikemaster and went for a blast from Milford Sound......there is lots of interesting topography around here!

Wow! That last shot is my favourite! Any special weather effects - or is it default FSX? Scenery looks great too! Any add-ons to the add-ons for that as well?

I went up and down that route a few screencomps ago - with a trio of Lancaster/Hurricane/Spitfire. I must have ended up with around 30 pics - none of which I could throw on "the cutting room floor". Sadly, I haven't made it to Milford Sound in RL ... yet winkyy.gif

Default FSX weather and textures, default SRTM mesh in those shots too smile.gif There are the startings of a replacement autogen texture in there showing more typical NZ native bush.

I find that the little areas of 'no bush' are as important visually as the large areas as they break up the scene and give better distance cues.....notice also, in pic 9 the small swampy lake surrounded by a bog and coloured a nice muddy brown smile.gif....just need some virtual deer and pigs!

What can I say, this is what NZ needs in FSX. This is epic, just epic! Certainly a turning point for the sim. a few thousand fences, some pigs, and sheep, and there won't be a need for any more Christmas'. why don't we throw in a few McDonalds, Burger Kings, Wendy's, one tree hill, industrial estates, power stations, power pylons, random marinas, animals, and pubs and then we'll be right :-)

Ive developed a new logo and name for the project too

Vector land class represents what it is (obviously) and how it is different (i.e. using vector polygons instead of raster pixels to define landclass)

The logo consists of vector polygon elements in the stylized shape of New Zealand with hints of aircraft and 3D modeling themes in the shapes.

Missed this thread before, but it was a treat to see those shots-- I was amazed how much better the default textures look when they are placed where they should be. Waiting with bated breath...
