Anybody know if the Dakota is flying to TG from Ardmore? I flew down to the Ohakea show a while back and it was just such a cool way of getting there! No driving, no queues ... just got off the aircraft, sat on the grass ... watched the show then jumped back on the plane. Probably only walked around 200m in the whole day laugh.gif

More to the point ... is Doug's Spit going to be there???

Anybody know if the Dakota is flying to TG from Ardmore?

From the most recent FlyDakota newsletter:

Tauranga Airshow
Waitangi weekend (Feb 6th-7th.)

(2 days and 1 night away.)

$80 for DC-3 Associate members
$100 for Public & non-members

Fly down Saturday morning and return
Sunday afternoon. Times TBA

Book your DC-3 tickets with us now &
plan your accommodation then buy your
Airshow tickets.

Air fare incl. GST and Refreshments.

For more info contact Jessica Cooper at 'flydc3@paradise.net.nz'. I'll hopefully be taking down one of my flying schools 172's- will advertise any spare seats closer to the time.

Righto- I've sent an email to confirm we would like to book the site under a commercial booking.

For those that have indicated that they would like to take a more formal role in helping out, could you please send me a PM with your email address so I can add you to the project management application that Robin has set up- This allows us to assign tasks etc to keep things ticking along.

It would also be good to have someone, not necessarily heading to the airshow, that may be able to help out organising some NZFF community media which would be shown at the site (i.e. organising member screen shots to show as a slide show, videos to show etc)

Mods- Perhaps we could make this a sticky? Ill edit the first post to indicate where we are at organising etc.

I'll second the call for volunteers -- please sign up quick as there are some decisions to be made. Those who think that there's plenty of time should reconsider -- it's just two months to the show, and half of that will be devoted to Christmas, holidays etc, so really we are looking at 3 or 4 weeks to get everything done.

The media role mentioned by Timmo is a priority -- I've held off announcing the December screenshot comp as this would be an ideal way to get some great promotional material. However this needs to be organised pretty urgently. In the meantime, I'd suggest that we get away from the banner this month (maybe next month's banner can promote the airshow) and go for some poster shots -- "This is what makes simming great" or "what NZFF means to me".

Ooh ... thanks for that. For some reason, they stuffed up my associate membership (from the last trip) so I haven't been getting newsletters etc. I didn't realise it was a two-day affair either!!

What kind of bribe are you after for your 172 seats? I have a brand new copy of Windows ME laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

We may need to good videos to be running on the stand .... so ... what about a video comp (to go alongside the screenshot comp) ... with a view to promoting NZFF for Tauranga. Or has someone already suggested that?

It would be interesting to capture video directly from the PC , no frame rate issues no restrictions with size , chop and change weather conditions on to a camera then run it directly on a screen .

Just to do an update for those that missed the edited first post-
The site has been booked and the first installment has been paid. The site includes power.
A team has been set up to help organise this for NZFF- Look out for some competitions etc in order to contribute your favourite screen shot or video.
A gazebo has been booked (managed to get it for free although I still need to double check it will be suitable)
We have some options for tables etc but it would still be good for any locals that have trestle tables or desks etc to let us know.

Cheers

Just a thought , 'end off the day' well Saturday , a venue for a quite sit back and chat after the airshow , with some driving from all points of the North Island and numbers coming up ' flying in' from the south , nothing formal , maybe a garden bar restaruat or something along same lines .
