I will do one for you - do you have any more reference pictures?

Could you not take some pictures yourself with a digital camera? I took a heap of colour slide pictures of my solo aircraft.
The pictures need to show the livery details.

Getting into it now - before I go further, confirm it is for FSX.

Hello New Zealand flight simmers!

I have recently become a big fan of flying in this country virtually, and have been collecting many payware and freeware addons that can add to the experience. As an aside, my current favorite spot in FS is RealNZ's Rotorua airport.

I have come across many unique liveries representing various aircraft operators and types in New Zealand when I discovered the following, courtesy of airliners.net:

http://www.airliners.net/photo/Newmans/De-...nada/0239480/L/

Now as some of you may know, there is a fantastic De Havilland Canada DHC-7 "Dash 7" with a great virtual cockpit and systems simulations for FS2004, created by a Mr. Milton Shupe. As you may have guessed, I am currently wondering if there is a nice rendition of the above featured livery for Mr. Shupe's DHC-7 model for operation within FS2004.

Before posting this, I performed the obligatory forum search here to determine if this livery style was released, and came upon the following thread which seemed promising, but the effort appeared to have ceased before completion.
http://nzff.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=333

To reiterate, I am simply wondering if anyone is willing to pursue the completion of the "Newmans" livery for Shupe's Dash 7.

Thank you for the consideration. smile.gif

Hi, Sean!

Love this bird as well!

I did some repaints on Milton's awesome "Quad Otter" before (Air Tindi, CF) and already came across the airliners.net pic of this "Newman" livery.
My further research attempts on this airline lead to a dead end street, never managed to grab more detailed pics, especially on the tail fin logo.

I may get indulged to roll her into my paint shack, but any help on retrieving graphic details would be highly appreciated!

Cheers,
Markus.

Count me in! thumbup1.gif

Just found the high-res logo (and some additional information on Newman's) here:

http://3rdlevelnz.blogspot.com/

This sure is a nice livery, but the curved lines on the tailfin will definately give me some headaches ... drool.gif

One more for the AI traffic builders:
I have an AI (reduced poly) version of Milton's Dash7, used it for my Yellowknife AI package. It shares the texture mapping with the full model, so I may additionally release it (with DXT3 textures) for AI purposes. Will fit well to the AI Retro series, won't it?

Cheers,
Markus.

Thanks for the responses. It surely looks like what you have done was the most challenging part of the livery! smile.gif

I was hitting quite a few dead ends as well with images of this aircraft, but in case the question pops up....

Based on some research, it appears that the white text near the rear door on the airliners.net shot may say "Northland" in a peculiar font. Unfortunately this is the largest and highest quality photo I can find, so that's just an educated guess. I can make out an "Nor.." in the first portion of the word I believe, but then it all jumbles together and becomes rather ambiguous.

Excellent work so far! I'm really looking forward to seeing this livery hit the virtual skies!

Thanks VERY much for working on this livery.

Would anyone be keen to do a heli repaint for me? I'd love this basic scheme

so I can have this machine

on MH-6C.ZIP, Tim Conrad's model found at FlightSim.com. Paint kit available but I don't have a decent programme to do it myself sad.gif

Hmmm - I'd rather associate "Nothland" to a Canadian airline.
Maybe "North Island" would make more sense. Newmans operated three Dash7s, so the second one might have been christened "South Island". I can't image how the third one was called... Any more relevant islands? laugh.gif

If you would rather leave that text off due to the ambiguity, that's fine, but I was just taking an educated guess based on what letters I could detect, and this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northland_Region

Looking forward to your continued progress on the livery!

Argh.
I should have taken one closer look at the pic before making my guess...
Of course you're right: Whatever this shall read, it's not "North Island"!

Ian?
Any idea?

It may be wishful thinking in regard to them coming up with anything useful, but an email to the Newmans company might provide some insight too if Ian doesn't come up with anything. They may have aircraft photos available or something.
http://www.newmanscoach.co.nz/

They are now strictly a bus company, but based on my research, this was definitely the one that operated the short lived airline for a time.

Hopefully Ian will chime in here with livery details. I still think the text says "Northland"! laugh.gif

Trying to pull out all the stops here, and I think Ian is our best bet if he has info, but if worse comes to worse, these folks may have data as well if they are contacted:

Good luck.
