Thanks Ian. I think most of us have lost someone taken by conflict somewhere , from 1914 untill today ....cant forget ANY of them.
My own link (i think) which Im still reasearching is this guy :

Sgt John Wallace Henry (26yo) (RNZAF) Rear Gunner with No9 Sqn - 5 Group, Waddington .
He was killed after the aircraft (Lancaster I W4230/P) was lost over Denmark on the night of sept 23/24th 1942. Only, his body and one other where recovered , and are buried at Svino in Denmark. He had only done 3 Ops prior to this, and from what i can find out , this was, that Lancasters first op......bloody rotten luck!....and he was only 26, and still hasn't come home.....

Thanks again Ian, its things like your screen that stir this up again.....now i want to find out more about him, and maybe a picture of the aircraft....sadly, cant trace any relations, so far anyway.

Imagine a flyover of these at the dawn service. Iroquois are good... but you can never have too many aircraft in formation tongue.gif

Yep, would be nice....we have enough warbirds here in NZ to put something together.....Ive seen a harvard over some services......but a huey would be nice for the Nam guys and any after that.

Not being picky, but isnt it Corps, not Core.

It is said Core, but spelt Corps.

Ian,

Thanks for this, great tribute. Often the efforts of New Zealanders in Bomber Command are overlooked. And given that 75 Sqn was the only squadron engaged from the outbreak of the war till the end, thats surprising.
