Matey , both companys scenery,s are great , ORBX covers such a huge area , a daunting task , VLC , the vectors is so accurate you could use use it as a laptop GPS in the car as long as you follow each intersection , course the infamous pine plantations really help .

In a way, it's a bit more complicated than that -- I don't want to give the impression that VLC addons will be mainly freeware, as they won't. Our initial job is to encourage developers to produce their own scenery for use with VLC, and I would imagine that this would be freeware.

But once the groundwork is laid here, I'll be shifting back to payware, with an emphasis on VLC-compatibility. In some ways this is very similar to Orbx in Australia, in that there is a good selection of freeware releases to compliment Orbx stuff. (I can never remember the name -- by Orbx I mean FTX.)

If I was Orbx, I'd take into account the fact that NZ already has a much more detailed landclass already, so instead of going head-to-head with that, I'd add to it. They do very nice textures and libraries, so concentrating on this would mean that users wouldn't have to give up VLC's highly detailed dataset, for Orbx's lovely textures. So ultimately they wouldn't be diluting their market, they'd be adding ours.
