Flying the VLC between Queenstown and Dunedin and wondering if things should be greener - I have the technology

Short answer: No!
It is very dry around that part of the country, with both record high and low temperatures recorded in the vicinity. There is tussock clad, golden hills at the end of golden plains. It looks particularly dramatic with patchy cloud!

Just checking ... but you do know that it's summer down here (or was, just)

Try setting your season to southern hemisphere winter and see if it makes any difference. I'm never quite sure whether FS gets this right.

Just a suggestion - if you're posting test shots like this, leave the shift-z info on so it gives us lat/long co-ordinates (and altitude) so we can try and duplicate/compare your view exactly. All them thar hills look the same to me

My 'default' textures will be under control of GEX until I work up the ambition to reinstall FSX. Apparently that's the only way I'll get back true default. I think 'Rotordude' has an alternate solution but he may have to walk me through it. That's a two layer shot, per your recommendation.

Dave , a very good and exacting compare is the Godzone 'Tikitimu' and it blends into VLC so well

It stays fairly dry on the east coast of the South Island due to the Southern Alps creating a 'rain shadow' which causes orographic lifting of the air coming across the Tasman sea'

Down in valleys it will be a bit greener/wetter but on the hills, even if the grass is green close to the ground, the appearance is brown/tan because of the long grass strands which stay dry.....Sheep will generally occupy the higher/drier hills with dairy cows being grazed on the greener stuff in the vallies
