Questions about this months comp:

Is a C-130 In civil paint , ie: Heavylift , still considered military even though they were produced primarily for that role?
Same for a P-3 in for example ,NASA colours?

And, is the U.S Coast guard considered Military....for the purpose of this comp .

I dont want to get into a debate....yes or no will do just fine.

The answer is no aircraft designed for military purposes can be used sad.gif

So wouldn't the first four entry's including mine be all out ,as they are or have been used for the mil in one way or another maybe even yours doug ,so whats the story , all these birds have been used for civil roles since the end of the war as lifters /water bombers /bus etc .none Military means civil roles to me not wipe out the 90% of aircraft that once 50-60 years ago where used as war toys ,they have probaly been in a civil role longer than they have a war role ,i can only think at the moment of the ATR /dash series and modern small twin prop, all the old birds are out? as most where drafted to war like the cargo ships that where used as troop carriers .

I would say Doug means designed for miltary use so your CL 215 would be okay as it was originally designed for civilan roles , mainly in water bombing. As would any ATR, Dash-8, DC-3 be ok been mainly civilian designed from the outset although some airforces operate it (or did). The Herc is different. It was orginally designed for military freighting. I guess there is some grey areas though.

the Lockheed L-188 electra was developed as a Civilian Airliner and the P-3 was developed from that project. so it is a valid entry

If I was going to ban all aircraft used by the military then there probably wouldn't be any aircraft that would qualify for this comp what is no allowed is aircraft specifically designed for military purposes the L-188 is fine but its military version the P-3 is not acceptable like the Beech King Air B200 used by the RNZAF is acceptable but not in the military colours.
The de Havilland DH.104 Dove is acceptable but not DH.104 Devon which is the military version.
Mike the CL-215 was designed as a civilian aircraft as a water bomber which is acceptable but the one you have entered is a Hellenic or Greece Air Force - Canadair CL-215 Scooper with the blue white blue markings on the tail and the Hellenic air force roundel on the fuselage.
Non Military aircraft means just that, to put it in a nutshell no aircraft specifically designed for military purposes you can use all prop or turbo-prop multi engine civilian aircraft except civilian aircraft painted in military colours.
Now I hope that is as clear as mud and no doubt will confuse you all a lot more laugh.gif laugh.gif

Just to add my query to add to the confusion laugh.gif ... and just to double check ... by "non-military" does that mean airline *and* GA ... and agricultural as well, I suppose? NO! ... I'm *not* entering an A****k ... honest!!! laugh.gif

What I'm trying to say (in a very roundabout way) is that it's a *huge* range of possible aircraft. Or is that the general idea? winkyy.gif

First of all the ruddy A****K is not a multi engine aircraft but as for the rest Airline, GA and Agricultural yes they can be used provided they have more than one engine and are prop or turboprop.

Nice shot bra boy......if i may be blunt....youv'e done better...but its nice.
I cant get motivated to this months challenge.....maybe its just me , but the parameters are too wide.

I'll just screen away as normal when i get home....and wait for August.

I think Im just tired and grumpy....so ignore 90% of the above.....and you decide which 10% you want to keep.

Yeah ... I know ... I just thought "I'd stick one in" (ooerrr, missus!) to be going on with while I find something better. I'm also a bit phased (fazed?) by the sheer breadth of the challenge. I think it ought to be restricted to members with a "ski" in their callsign laugh.gif
