Currently I'd say 2500K/2600k if you run modern apps that can use hypertheading (not FSX) then the 26 is the best candidate

And a GTX 580 if you can. Otherwise a 570. Apparently the extra for the 580 is really worth it (that's if you run the resource hungry FTX stuff.

Still a build based around these 2 items with quality parts will get expensive quickly. My last mock up build saw me at the 3.5 k mark. You can do it cheaper but.... Actually that may have been with a monitor aswell?

Jeeeze nick, you must be loaded smile.gif
Spongebob I reckon you don't need to go much over 2k, esp if you dont go the whole hog on a 580 which is 2 to 3 times the price of something like a 560 for barely 50% more grunt, check out the list of bits I just bought for example...

yeah probably over the top.

I find if I spend a few days building a pc on pricespy I can put off the upgrade for another 6 months smile.gif

Now I'm waiting for the new 2011 stuff (socket not year)

Im not a huge fan of ether but i had to make a choice blink.gif on my setup which was intel before and now the AMD 6xcore which i like the fact i can infinity mask all cores in the fsx cfg very easy and get huge jump in performance over letting it do itself ,money was the factor and amd seem to be good for the dollar ,i think i get over 20ghz on the cpu with my 1055t ,nothing flash but sure does run FSX well ..
