The atmosphere just looks more volumetric if you get my meaning. Wow is the only word that came to mind when I saw those shots. Is there any extra hit on frames with the upgrade?

Frames were monitored during testing and I am yet to see a significant impact.

I'm not 100% sure, but I heard ESSENTIALS (without OD at the moment) is a standalone ... so you can delete your old version if you want (to do a clean install), but as to going over the top of an old install ... dunno! Certainly not this version over an old Overdrive install.

Not sure when the OD version is to come out ... anyone know?

OOOPS! Forgot to say "Great pics" Kelvin - thanks thumbup1.gif!

Brilliant screens! I did an evening flight last night from my local field (2 miles from here) with dusk real-time weather courtesy of REX Essential. Looking out of the window at the same time, it looked exactly right!

This is what I did to install REX Essential (instructions are for the update for existing REX customers):

1. Completely uninstall my previous REX2 + OverDrive setup.
2. Reinstall just REX2 from the DVD.
3. Go through the recommended pre-upgrade procedures as per the REX forums.
4. Install REX Essential update.

If you're an existing REX customer who bought it through Flightsimstore, I think you can just do a clean install using the full version. For everyone else and DVD buyers like me, we have to use the update.

I'll add OverDrive back in once they release the REX Essential version.

Hope that helps,

Ade

Yep, that #3 shot is the money-shot. That "haze" look has been sadly missing from FSX - good to see something that now adds that realism. thumbup1.gif

Overdrive is coming and we will be testing once ready. If you want to replace OD you will need to waiting until this is released. A date has not been shared yet.

The thing that most annoyed me about FSX weather is that, lets say above 2000ft above the airport elevation the visibility is 30M and below it is 2M, on ILS approach at 2100ft you can still see the ground for 30M ahead of you. Do you understand what I'm saying? unsure.gif

Ok,

Downloaded REX free samples in the past which of course lead me to REX Essential when it was released.
I have a bad habit of Downloading way to much, all at once and muddling through till I get the result I'm looking for (I also keep playing with setting way to much, lol). Example using AA_MODE_METHOD_SUPERSAMPLE_16X_BIAS at the moment.
Really big hate of mine is software developers that automate Upgrades and Sharing without the ability of disabling it.
I can't find the option of disabling other users Weather schemes. Keep getting popups/sound info of New from someone.

Anyone know how I disable this? (yes I could be being lazy here and not reading enough, but Friday is my drinking night...and I hate to read.)

Don't Drink and Fly You kids!

Anyway from what I've seen so far.. REX E! Great stuff. Pretty sure it improved my Framerate.

Have to admit the Haze is a definate improvment on FSX. I don't go up RL very often but seeing the haze with REX made it just that little bit more realistic.
I tried to download last night as well. Started with over 1 mbps by 8 o'clock was down to like 30 kbps. At the same time doing http://www.speedtest.net to Perth and getting over 1.2 mbps. Decided the Website I was Downloading from was "Throttling Me" so stopped it.
Finished it off this morning after obtaining a New IP at 1.3mbps
Took like 5 minutes.

Lesson here is Dont Download at Peak times and think about, When the Site Operator is most likely monitoring his traffic. (high usage times) Muhahaha

Isn't it available as a torrent as well? That could help .... so long as you throttle your UP traffic a bit winkyy.gif

Not sure! Is it? Every link I clicked lead me to www.ozsim.com

Is there somewhere else you can get it? Maybe its just the Site I got it from!! Won't mention which because that gets Post deleted.
