Nice pics...

I'm still pretty happy with the overall "feel" of my FS9.5 install.
But my NEXT sim must look like this:

I'm waiting...

Bethells! A special place for me and one I very much hope I'll be returning to soon wub.gif

Thanks for posting Charl. Great shot.

Sorry, Scupper, we've hijacked your thread, but I will stick to the theme of Auckland ...
FSX is already capable of displaying a better mesh and aerial resolution, it's just a pity that Supercity has a low-res image. With VLC's 20 metre mesh it still suffers a bit from the way that the sim (in this case Prepar3D) renders cliffs, which hasn't really changed from FSX. Also a large-scale aerial image placement in FSX does suffer a bit from alignment around the edges.

But imagine this with a higher resolution image, and a higher resolution mesh, FSX and P3D are both capable of this right now.
For me, though, the strength of P3D is the middle distance, which is a huge improvement over FSX.

A preview of Real NZ NZWN, which does include a higher resolution image and mesh.

"Scuppered" it is then, (part of Ianglish vocab?) until there's a more formal thread, I'll just whitter on.

FSX with ORBX NZSI the pick is showing where the photo scenery joins the ORBX all we need now is for a decent sea to go with it
Great mesh, and the photoreal landmass is very convincing, as is:

Real "eye candy". I'm also impressed by the fidelity of the road, something totally missed in MSFS previously.
The sky/clouds can easily be fixed, and the ocean: it should never show cloud reflections!
Thinking idly, FS9 is of course limited by its native resolution, which means viewing from around 3,000+ ft mandatory.
But I'd love to see a hi-res photo on the original RealNZ Wellington.

Would these do? Of course a lot depends on when you push the button...but my Classic FS9.1 still looks pretty purty to me biggrin.gif

Great screens Mike , Its amazing the transition and compare , again as i say , many peoples screens simply loose or hide the detail , Transition is rather following the in-crowd is seeing best how everything works on your PC/system and just recent had a great collection of screens tricking peoples to think FS9 was FSX for example .. super cool cool.gif

Great shots , but # 1 is a bit odd. If you consider the altitude of the aircraft (almost 6000) , and the angle of the the shot .... then i estimate there are 5 plus , 100, and then some, floor buildings in wellywood.

SP - I really value this sort of feedback, because I have never been to NZ, so I just don't know what I should be seeing. I need the locals to tell me what I am missing, and I am grateful when they do.
That said, I run my FS9 with Autogen Density = Normal, because anything higher brings in rogue default buildings, telegraph poles in the middle of runways, and similar rubbish, which completely spoil the many excellent NZ produced sceneries which I have.
I know they can be removed, but is a lot of fiddly work, and a couple of years back I was doing so much tweaking and fixing that I never got to fly, which made me so TPO with FS that I almost abandoned it. angry.gif

I think that Mike has hinted at the reason -- a combination of 'normal' autogen settings and the fact that autogen just doesn't show up that far away means that the non-autogen models tend to stick out. However they are all to scale. Prepar3D shows autogen a lot further away, so these buildings don't look so much like sore thumbs.

SP - No worries mate - the 'angry' face was to indicate my state of mind when I became TPO with the flightsim - it wasn't directed at you.
I do appreciate that sort of feedback, comparison shots and so on. Without them I would not know what I was missing.
