For a few weeks 'now I've been playing with the Windows 10 beta, sorry Technical Release Candidate. So I thought I would see if it was compatible with FSX. Now I'm not totally sold on Win10. Yeah it has brought back the start menu, which seems to be the b...d child of the start menu and metro central, but it lacks the refined looks of Windows Aero. But hell it loads really fast. And I mean REALLY fast (Like on the i3 test rig in under 6 seconds from button to desktop on a mechanical drive). So I decided to see if it was compatible with FSX. Now Win10 will ship with DX12, but the beta doesn't, it still has DX11. I loaded up FSX with ORBX global and yes, it ran, with some horrific results. On the default trike flight at Friday Harbour I was getting 0.4 FPS... I REALLY hope this is not an omen of things to come and is just an echo of beta jitters but it did sorta run so indicated it was sort of compatible. I would put this down to Win10 being a hybrid of 7 and 8 and FSX running on both but those frames are just painful... Heres a screenshot of FSX running in Win 10 and the start menu...
