Cairo Intl. (HECA) - Sharm el Sheik (HESH)

Postby hasegawa » Fri Apr 10, 2015 10:18 am

Another of the flights after a working day for fun. In reality Egyptair Express with it´s Embraer ERJ 170 fly all the domestic routes in Egypt. (Maybe a chance to use the Wilco ERJ´s V. 1), but mine are not installed and I want to fly only... so I got the Boeing 737-800 (Ifly) for this job.
HECA, the new representation in the Payware of the Cairo Intl. Airport is ... forget it. So I am worked only to fly. We have not allways time. It is evening and I did not want to fly into Sharm El Sheik in a dark night. You would see, why...

Image

We are underway. It is rush hour here in Cairo, a lot of flights to europe want reach it´s destination before midnight. We have a lot of airports, closing between 22...24 to 4 or 5 hour in europe. Our flight is not a big thing. Around 45 minutes only, if the airspace is clear and not to much traffic.

Image

We see some E-Jets E 170´s parking here in Cairo. Egyptair Express has 12 of them and they are underway the long day... to Luxor, Assuan, Marsa Matruch, Sharm El Sheik, Hurgada...

Image

Departure from the RWY 5L we are going at first to 8.000 ft today and head vor west.

Image

I like it to fly with Head-up-Display, known from the military, but meanwhile in Boeing 737NG an option do buy.

Image

The sun is going down fast...

Image

Image

Crossing the Great Bitter Lake, famous for it´s role in the 7-day-war 1967. 15 commercial vessels are traped here on the entrance to the Suez-Channel and stay here to 1975. Two german ships among them, and the only ships, that go out there years later on their own machine... Because of all the sand on the decks they where nicknamed "the yellow fleet". In WWII ships of the italian fleet are interned here after the armistice of Italy. Some of them: the battleships "Italia" ex. ""Litorio" and "Vittorio Veneto"... and Mr. Roosevelt was here in conference with King Abd al-Aziz ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia after the Jalta Conference with Churchill and Stalin on the 14. Februar 1945 on board of USS "Quincy"...

Image

Image

Mountains and a landscape like on the moon in the last minutes of daylight... We are on approach now and there is not much room for failure.

Image

We are going in at RWY 4L with Autoland. I like this feature in such situations. The visibility is not the best. No time to test Your skills.

Image

Image

After the desert a bit of green...

Image

A bit to fast...

Image

Okay, here we go... Flaps full, Spoiler, thrust reversal, the full programme.

Image

On the taxiway... first time to relax...

Image

A lot of aircraft parking around us. And we got it...

Frankly Paul I would have picked Singapore , the Suez Crisis , its amazing how many little wars through out the 1950s and the 1960s , on the RAF side only time the Seahawk and Wyverns were used in serious action , love to see more off your history in the RAF and hear off some your stories and historical photo's - you never know ... a new artwork may beam from my brain ... You have to start a new thread "Fozzers Corner" maybe B-)

I'm now about to disappoint you, Ian!... ....!

After being deferred for five years, following my 16th birthday in 1950, to complete my Electrical Engineers apprenticeship, I was finally dragged, kicking and screaming, into Her Majesties Army (REME) at the age of 21 (1955), courtesy of the dreaded constipation/conflagration/conscription, for 2 very long years National Service, and hating every minute of it!
I never did, and never have, been interested in anything involving warfare, which is the reason why I always fly GA aircraft in all the Flight Sims!.... :wink2: ....!

Bloody glad to get; "Demobbed", after 2 years...like the rest of us!

Sorry Chums!..... :nahnah: ...!

The only "Fozzers Thread" I have running, is entitled; "Motorcyclists Corner"....>>>> http://forums.simviation.com/phpBB3/vie ... 3&t=170020

....much more relaxing than shooting and bombing things!.... :D ....trust me!...

Paul......with a Cessna 150 Aerobat, (with no guns or bombs attached)... ...!

P.S. The posting to Germany meant that we could get home leave to England a couple of times a year. Hong Kong and Singapore were too far away!

Great sequence thanks for sharing. Can we assume from your comment above that the SDG HECA is not worth purchasing? :P

I've taken this route in real life, except by land in a clapped out 1970's Peugeot taxi we hired for 24hrs or so to drive us from Cairo to Dahab which is a little further around the Sinai peninsula coast from Sharm El Sheik which we passed on the way. Was a fantastic land journey tearing across the desert day and night at horrifying speeds, many near-death collision incidents, quite a relief to arrive at our destination where we spent about a week recovering, ie drinking beer (yes you can buy it there) and other relaxing pursuits :)

Great part of the world.

Yes, the scenery of the airport of Cairo is not in all up to todays standartds and only interesting for lovers of the area in conjuncion with the city-scenery in the freeware. It is not bad and people, they are in the airport in the last time told, "all is on it´s place" but... it looks not so good like Sharm el Sheik bei 29 Palms or the scenery of Djerba for example. But... I honor the fact, that the designers step by step iron out problems and it looked far better than the previous works. The lightning-problem in DX10 seemed to be solved.
