I had the opportunity to see a real life He-111 not too long ago, it was part of a exhibition on the 75th anniversary of the bombardment of Rotterdam. On 14th of May 1940, my hometown Rotterdam was bombed, as part of the German invasion, by these bombers. They completely destroyed the heart of the city, which is why people say that Rotterdam is the city without a heart. Although its past may be ugly, it still is a beautiful and gorgeous aircraft!

Can't agree more! This summer was extra special for me as an aviation enthousiast and pilot! The upcoming movie 'Dunkirk' was partly filmed in the Netherlands, close to the town of Urk. But for that movie they also needed some WWII aircraft, which were temporarily stationed at Lelystad airport (EHLE) from which I build SEP hours. So I've seen a couple of Spitfires, Hurricanes, a Hispano HA-1112 (which is a Spanish-build Bf-109) and the only airworthy Bristol Blenheim in the world. And the Dutch Navy PBY Catalina is permanently stationed at Lelystad, so it too was visible quite often.

Those were good times
