Pointy bits

One over-looked feature which has been improving all the time is DEM -- the elevation data. And these days it's a lot easier to get data, since I had a good result asking the Dunedin council for their data, I contacted the Coromandel people, not expecting a great response. But they were great, within 2 days I had a working 5 metre mesh covering all the Coromandel, and it's areas like this -- with rugged coastlines -- which really benefit from the extra resolution. It is looking like the Coromandel is a definite project now, I hope to visit the place before winter really sets in.
Some random DEM shots:

We really do get the point over councils, specifically if they are going hand out information to produce scenery like that B-)

I'm in Whitianga for the weekend. Lovely place and we have had great weather. The Coromandel really is a lovely spot. Nice to be here without the summer crowds too.

Fly in or Drive in .. only been up there during the nutty seasons a couple times, the birds have no fear of cars or motorbike , sit on the side of the road and just ... just look at ya as you go past .. or least that was what it was like twenty plus years back.

...or just occasionally, if you happen to be going, (ahem!), 'a little faster than usual' on a GSX-R600 and a pukeko decides at the last second that the risk is greater than it first judged and it gets collected by the crash knob on the fairing (and luckily not your leg)... well, that kind of mess can take a couple of hours to clean off ... just sayin' :-)

PS to the regulars ... still not simming. Still won't be for a few months yet ... but *will* be arriving in ChCh (Rolleston) on Saturday... the move is finally happening. Weather can't be any worse than here in Hamilton...

Later 'gators...
