This may a be a flight into the 50´s. France was still in power in Algeria and a lot of civilian and military flights each day cross the Mediterranean Sea to Algiers, Oran, Bizerta...

Great set of shots Andreas ... we tend to forget how many conflicts France has been, and is involved with.

And France has a lot of "oversea departments" to date.... French Polynesia, French Guyana, half of Saint Marten (the other is dutch) St. Barthelmy, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Reunion, Mayotte ... only some examples, and all theses are Member of the "European Union" which means, that the rest of the member of this "Union" pay the price for the excellent infrastructure of these territories. Look at Reunion, a small island in the indian Ocean. Here you can find more luxury cars as in Paris! And the longest straight street at Reunion is about 3.500 Meter.... A Postman in Reunion earn twice as much as his workmate in Paris.
