Not NZ, Not your usual flightsim

Robin alluded to the Colorado release in AFS2.
I love hooning around this space in my favourite fast jet, the F-15E.

The level of detail in mesh and graphics never fails to delight.
Imagine this in NZ...

"Cultivated" too, there are New Bits put into this sim's capabilities every time I look.
Not actually sure what "cultivated" includes beyond trees, but looks fine to me.

Ground textures are amazing. What do you use for that?

I would die for good NZ szenery in AeroflyFS2. In general, all is there, free orthophotos (as far as I know), geoconvert, vegetation and airport tools. Unfortunately I am afraid OSM data are not excellent. Anyway, anyone could do it himself, but I don't belong to those being gifted to do it (maybe except the geoconvert part which I can handle... basically). Given the variety pf NZ's landscape and it's no too big it would make an excellent prototype.

Kind regards, Michael

When I started looking at adding New Zealand scenery to Aerofly, through the recently funded multi-sim project, it was very apparent that just adding Godzone regions or Real NZ airports wouldn't work -- the default scenery for NZ is kind of a blurry soup, on a low resolution mesh. So the first step would be to improve this, and that's my current plan. Work is underway, although it's too early to make any official announcements, or talk about what it will include. I did post a video in the Members forum (to keep it low-key) which shows another glimpse of NZ in Aerofly.
I'm very excited about this project, it is certainly more than I imagined when I ran the Kickstarter campaign, but as I said, it has to be the first step. It is a collaborative project, so although it will be payware, may not be sold by me, but if possible it will be part of the Multi-sim project for those who contributed to the Kickstarter.

I didn't look upon NZ, but the default scenery over Germany is completely unusable as well. Seems to be kind of a placeholder to avond people saying there's "nothing". I made a small Hires geoconvert region around my home base, and that looks quite pretty. Unfortunately I am too dumb and lack the time for "cultivating" it.

Thanks Rob, I think your strategy sounds promising.

Best, Michael

It's free downloadable content from Aerofly.
They have a number of freebies which upgrade specific areas such as California, Utah, New York.
There is also payware e.g. Switzerland.
Then ORBX has done a couple of sceneries too.
