Just Flight double whammy!

Postby Adamski » Sat Apr 21, 2018 5:03 pm

I've had my eye on the Just Flight "Dunkirk" Spitfire for a fair while now - and Scott at JF gently persuaded my to throw in the new C152 while I was at it!

I've always been a great fan of JF aircraft - and these two are simply superb!

I have to add that Just Flight have been great screencomp sponsors over the years and many NZFF winners have been able to enjoy their prizes. Kiwi1spad is the latest winner, but is moving house at the moment so I thought I'd post something on his behalf!

Nice work Adders
Not sure about the Spit, I don't really see the relevance considering how many are on offer, over various platforms ....is it a specific aircraft?
The 152 on the other hand, is a darling ...and I agree JF do it well  Looking forward to their Vulcan.

Here's the story from JF:

"The inspiration for this simulation comes from the stories of two early Spitfires which fell whilst defending ground forces at Dunkirk. The first is P9374 ‘J’, an early Mk1 flown by Fg Off Peter Cazenove on his first combat mission, and the second machine is N3200 ‘QV‘. This Mk1 was flown by Sqn Ldr Geoffrey Stephenson on an operation over Calais to protect the BEF as they were evacuated on 27th May 1940. N3200, like its sister, remained buried in the wet sands for more than 40 years until it was re-discovered in 1986 and both these aeroplanes were eventually restored to flying condition. P9374 took to the skies again in 2011, and N3200 in 2014. They are among the earliest examples of Mk1 Spitfires currently flying and are a beautiful testament to the skills of the restoration company responsible for their rebirth."

"In this simulation you will also find examples of Mk1As which fought in the Battle of Britain and were piloted by some of that battle's Aces."

I probably own all the Spits out there (including DCS!!) but my MkI and MkII variants are A2A which isn't 100% P3Dv4 compatible. It works, but I can't seem to fix the irritating blue canopy.

The Realair Spit (MkV etc.) is great - and has great sound - but I really fancied having fully a working P3Dv4 version of those early models. I love the JF one: it seems to handle well and looks good, inside and out. It's a worthy part of my collection! Expect some more pics (over Dunkirk, this time) from me soon. Hopefully Kiwi1spad will add his shortly!

The C-152 is an unassuming little thing but, like you, I love it. Would be great to own one in RL. Like a Tiger Moth without the wind and vibrations!

Another couple - this time over Dunkerque:

Loving the 152 outback, but you would have to be a little concerned about your airspeed in no 7!

Bra guy ...zapped by JK  Remember Ian hated the slew control for some reason ^_^
I use it all the time for shots, but if you release the "y" key and keep the sim paused, for a screen take, airspeed almost always reads zip B-)

Yep - I usually do just that - especially as sometimes the smoke effects need to clear. I often slow the sim down to 1/4 before I unpause/unslew it so it doesn't get too far out of position.

In this case though I was just bloomin' lazy    ... and anyway - I never look at instruments!

How did you get such beautiful and realistic looking ground textures?

A combination of ORBX/FTX scenery (NZNI and ENG) plus PTA for the shading (one of my own presets). That first shot is in one of my favourite areas: the Hauraki Gulf, around NZAA.

ORBX is great in many areas around the world but, for some reason, they made an especially good job of New Zealand (IMHO). It's maybe not 100% accurate all over NZ with respect to towns etc. but I think the palette and autogen really captures the [unique] look of the NZ landscape.
