Southampton Airport (EGHI) - Alderney Airport (EGJA) Aurigny, Dornier Do. 228

There's this repaint from Carenado Do. 228 of the airline "Aurigny Air Services Limited". During the last ORBX price campaign, the airport and the Channel Island of Alderney were available for a reasonable price. I hope that Guernsey and Jersey will also be reissued. As is well known, hope dies last.
The Dornier is the best known aircraft of the Dornier-Werke in Oberpfaffenhofen after the 2nd World War. Meanwhile, these have gone bust but a company called RUAG has started manufacturing a substantially modernized Do. 228NG, of which Aurigny bought two exampless. The remaining two arcraft are older machines. I like such flights with machines without a pressurized cabin. The altitude restriction of 12. 500 ft when flying such a machine without additional oxygen forces to fly not "above the weather" but "in the weather" and that is something completely different than flying with a jet in 30. 000 ft. . .

One of my favourite aircraft!!! Some tremendous shots there ... but that last one in particular could easily be a screencomp winner!!!

It's a peculiar looking thing - quite unusual - like a more elegant BN-2 Islander. I'll see if I can reinstall it in P3Dv5!

You can tell what you want :D

The little Dornier is an angular piece of furniture but at least it's sleeker than a Twin Otter. . . The idea behind the plane was about the same as behind the DHC-6. A robust aircraft for the 3. World without frills, sufficiently fast and with a reasonable range. . .

Thank you very much. These flights with comparably small regional airliners give me more pleasure than long-haul flights. . .

Beautiful shots! Carenado have done a nice job of the flight deck look used!

Also looks like a passenger is having an argument with a groundie haha - probably was using his phone on the tarmac!

The Do 228 is a real workhorse. By the way, it is built again by a company called RUAG after Doirnier went bankrupt. The new machines have been given a glass cockpit and many refinements...

Strange but highly effective wing... The engeneering of the profile for this wing was fundet by the German Goverment.
